Along with Bluegrass, Kentucky also intersects the Appalachian Mountains at the East. Many wonderful mountain country dishes come from there.

Kentucky is known for its own unique form of barbecue. Owensboro, Kentucky is home to the International Bar-B-Q Festival, which is an annual barbecue competition.

Some things are similar to the style of traditional Southern dishes, but with their own unique Kentucky flair.

The Kentucky Derby is held on the first Saturday in May every year in Louisville, Kentucky.
